CSR Statement

AVANTI'S COMMITMENT TO RESPONSIBLE MINING

The following concepts will guide Avanti's actions during the development and operations of the Kitsault Molybdenum mine in British Columbia.

  • Respecting and working collaboratively with the Nisga'a Nation is key to our success.

  • Applying the most appropriate environmental management systems through all stages of mine development; construction, production and reclamation is the standard we choose to pursue.

  • Pursuit of continuous improvements in environmental and safety performance is an ongoing objective.

  • Creating long-lasting social and economic benefits for the communities in which we operate is the legacy we will strive for.
Sustainability and Social Responsibility

When operating, Kitsault will provide over 350 full-time jobs. Avanti will implement a hiring policy that offers equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on gender or age but will favor local workers over those outside the region. With our educational partners, we will provide training and education programs to develop a skilled pool of employees, providing long-term, sustainable benefits to the community and its members. Through ongoing and collaborative working relationships, we will build a foundation that can support future economic opportunities in the region.

Permitting Efforts

We will strive to re-permit the mine in a timely manner by working closely with all appropriate government agencies and with the Nisga'a Lisims Government. Community Engagement and Collaboration

Avanti acknowledges the importance of respecting cultural and regional diversity when building long-term relationships with the communities in which it operates. Through information sessions, consultation, communications and actions, Avanti commits to working together with the provincial, regional and Nisga'a Lisims Government, with community partners and other stakeholders.

Nisga'a Nation involvement

Before finalizing the acquisition of the Kitsault project, Avanti engaged in open communication with the Nisga'a Lisims Government. As the project moves toward production, we will continue to work with the NLG and will also engage community members through open communication and public meetings.

Public involvement

Avanti believes that engagement and consultation facilitates mutual trust and builds cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups. We believe that the public should have a voice in actions that affect their lives and communities.

  • Our public participation process seeks out and supports the involvement of our neighbours.
  • We provide information to allow our community partners to participate in meaningful ways.
  • We report back to the community on how their input shaped project decisions.
Commitments to neighbours

Avanti will be a good neighbour and commits to listening to and responding to our neighbours, and to demonstrating fairness and mutual respect in all of our employment and business practices. Health, Safety, and Environmental Integrity

Avanti is committed to protecting the health and safety of its employees, contractors and the public, and to safeguarding the environment affected by its activities. We will fully comply with all lawful Environmental, Health & Safety requirements applicable in Kitsault's jurisdiction.

We care about our employees, the environment, and the communities in which we operate. Through the strong personal commitment of our employees we achieve safety, health and environmental excellence by targeting zero lost-time accidents and minimal impact on the environment.
